"I was so excited to see a post-punk song in Vidbir this year, and it did not dissapoint. I never even considered an ex-Eastern bloc country sending a Molchat Doma-style song, and now I need it." ~ Saskia
"Bringing us that distinct post-punk sound in the style of Molchat Doma. I love dirty synth, and I am hear for this 80s-esque moment." ~ Troy
"I have to give a comment on my 8 points... Look, I love love love the Cure and this is straight out of the Cure's early stuff like A Forest and Primary. I love this and never thought Ukraine would have artists like this. I am going to be doing a deep dive on this band!" ~ Hayley
7. Ziferblat — Bird of Pray (66 points)
Highs: 12 points (Saskia & Fleur)
Lows: 1 point (Laura), 2 points (Emma, Joel & Hayley), 3 points (Sam, Liv & Dale)
"I've been a Ziferblat stan for a while now, and was a little underwhelmed with their first attempt last year. This year however, they have exceeded expectations and have maybe submitted their best ever song. From the title to the alternative rock element to the chanting verses, I think about this entry a lot." ~ Saskia
"I really did not like their song last year but this one is the pick of the bunch for 2025. I get the hunch that they are more of a rock band. The lead singer's voice suits this more. Is it top 10 material? We know Ukraine brings it in May, this would be no different." ~ Fleur
6. KRYLATA — STAY TRUE (70 points)
Highs: 10 points (Joel), 8 points (Sam)
Lows: 2 points (Saskia & Troy), 3 points (Emma & Fleur)
"The more I listen to this song the more I love it! Wade through the first 30 seconds and you’re greeted with a thumping beat that builds to a stunning crescendo in the final moments. A vote stealer for sure!" ~ Joel
5. Abiye — Дім (74 points)
Highs: 8 points (John & Laura)
Lows: 2 points (Jamie & Sam), 3 points (Saskia & Joel)
4. KHAYAT — HONOR (96 points)
Highs: 12 points (Joel), 10 points (Sam, Emma, Cooper & Dale), 8 points (Jamie)
Lows: 1 point (Hayley), 2 points (John), 3 points (Troy)
"This is such an intriguing song to listen to! So much darkness and beauty emanates from Khayat’s haunting and at times soaring vocals. After being runner up in Vidbir 2020, I’ve got a feeling that 2025 will be his year for victory." ~ Joel
"The music at the beginning and end of this song sounds a little like something you would here out of a mystery or sci-fi movie – very haunting! The instrumental in the middle is solid Slavic-inspired pop that you want to bop along to. Overall an intriguing piece in a sea of mediocre songs." ~ Sam
"I had written this song off after the first minute but all of a sudden it transformed in to something I wanted more of. I loved the drama of the heavy dancebreak compared to the lighter string section. A well-produced track that you could do so much with on stage." ~ Emma
"Not as strong as his previous effort but this is fun. The edgy sad boy energy of the song has to come alive in the live performance or this could easily fall flat on its face if not staged well (but it's Ukraine, they always stage impeccably)" ~ Cooper
"I was a big fan of Khayat's other Vidbir entry a few years ago and although this isn't quite as strong it still has his signature style (and blocked nose vocal tone). Big fan!" ~ Dale
3. MOLODI — my sea (101 points)
Highs: 12 points (Dale), 10 points (Jamie & Liv), 8 points (Emma, Fleur, Troy & Craig)
Lows: 1 point (John)
"This is such a well put together song. There was a lot of interesting stuff in the line-up and I wanted to avoid going too mainstream, but I think this is just too good to ignore. Well produced, sounds good and hopefully looks good on stage!" ~ Dale
"Even though this song sounds generic, the lyrics and their meaning are what really evokes emotion with this song. It is probably unlikely to win Vidbir, but the way this song made me feel is why I am giving 10 points." ~ Jamie
"The smooth vocals and production scratch my brain just right. I like that the second verse is in Ukrainian, breaks up the tune and ends on a powerful note." ~ Liv
2. FIЇNKA — Культура (124 points)
Highs: 12 points (John, Sam, Emma & Liv), 10 points (Laura, Hayley & Craig), 8 points (Saskia, Cooper & Dale)
Lows: 5 points (Jamie & Fleur)
"It is the only option left. There's no way to put it other than the fact that Ukraine's perfect qualification streak may hinge on that performance. I hope she did well because if she didn't, it may open the door for others, but for now, I give the benefit of the doubt." ~ John
"What a great comeback by FIINKA. She was robbed in Vidbir 2023, so it is fantastic to see her back with something authentically from her catalogue but not identical to Dovbush. FIINKA’s funky tune Kultura is the strongest song in an otherwise underwhelming Ukrainian line-up. Wildcards often do well in Eurovision national selections, so I’m hoping this trend continues." ~ Sam
"I really enjoyed this for its blend of electro and traditional instruments. I get Go-A vibes in parts and the clapping beat is a clever way to get people involved in the live performance. This has grown on me already after only a couple of listens so I can only imagine how much I'm going to love it if it wins the ticket to Basel." ~ Emma
"She's done it again! Another entry that is undeniably Ukrainian in production. If they do one thing well it's fusing the old with the new to create interesting folk concoctions. Bloody brilliant." ~ Liv
"The Ukrainian televoters chose well! This song would be another fantastic choice for Eurovision, and is bound to get the audience up and dancing! I love it!" ~ Laura
"I absolutely adore Fiinka - her music is delightfully unhinged and I am here for it. While not as good as her sensational 2023 song (which I am still listening to on repeat), this is pretty good and I feel this is the best Ukrainian folk song of the bunch. Oh, and I really love the flute!" ~ Hayley
1. Masha Kondratenko — No Time to Cry (129 points)
Highs: 12 points (Jamie, Cooper, Troy, Laura, Hayley & Craig), 10 points (John & Fleur), 8 points (Liv)
Lows: 4 points (Emma)
"This is my clear favourite for Vidbir. Such a beautiful haunting melody and the perfect balance between both Ukrainian and English in the song. If this wins Vidbir, I think this will poll very highly at Eurovision." ~ Jamie
"By far my favourite of this selection. No Time To Cry has a hauntingly beautiful melody paired with a pulsating club beat. Masha has a look and live this could be something really cool." ~Cooper
"Moving through an expansive sound to an intimate ballad-like closeness to then erupting into driving base and beats all accompanied by an, at times, haunting vocal. This is one of the most interesting and sophisticated productions I have heard offered by a national finalist of any nation." ~Troy
"This is ART! While I’m used to seeing Masha Kondratenko disguise her dark lyrics with upbeat, peppy music, here she gives them space to exist as they are, making them far more powerful and impactful. The music video visuals are stunning, I hope Masha can find a way to replicate them on stage. Dare I go out on a limb and say it could potentially challenge for the win in Basel? Either way, this song is absolutely phenomenal!" ~ Laura
"This is absolutely sublime. The track starts off sounding like its going to be a Lana Del Ray song and then THAT bass drops. This is right up my alley - totally delicious base and so well produced. So WHEN this goes to Eurovision, Ukraine will nail the staging as usual and they will get another top ten, and it will be very well deserved. Gorgeous and smooth AF." ~ Hayley
"Maybe it might get some lifeline with this. I think Ukraine might take the risk and go with that entry because the lyrics are OK and the song is in the average. What I really love for this is the messaging and the tone of the song." ~ John
"I would not be disappointed if Ukraine chose this. It's a good song. I really like the progression with the EDM beats and Masha's vocals are great." ~ Fleur
