SBS wants songwriters to ‘bring out the bangers’

There is under one week to go until song submissions close for ‘Eurovision – Australia Decides’ and SBS needs BANGERS.

No seriously, we’re not making that up, they want bangers!

Creative Director of ‘Eurovision – Australia Decides’ and Head of Blink TV, Paul Clarke, has said “this year feels like we have a lot of strong ballads – we are really looking for up-tempo songs to balance, so please, hit us with your dance bangers!”

Anyone who has taken a glancing look at our televote over the years will see that we love an upbeat banger. From ‘Spirit in the Sky’ to ‘What the Pressure’, ‘Toy’ and ‘Hey Mama’, the public will get behind a song that delivers.

Songwriters have until Monday 30 September at 23:59 (AEST) to submit their song or songs – there is no limit on the amount they can enter.

SBS are really looking for diversity, forget what your ‘typical’ Eurovision song is, they want pop, hip hop, opera, electro and everything in between.

Songs will then be shortlisted and announced, as will the ten Australian artists set to compete for their shot to represent Australia on the world’s biggest stage later in the year.

Those acts will compete in ‘Eurovision – Australia Decides’ held Friday 7 and Saturday 8 February on the Gold Coast. Early bird ticket sales also close Monday 30 September.

Details on submitting a song for ‘Eurovision – Australia Decides’ is available at sbs.com.au/Eurovision with tickets available from Ticketek.
