Team comments

Maybe I’m just Parg-drunk, but my take is Armenia’s songs this decade are objectively better than they have performed in the Grand Final and probably deserved slightly better results. However they haven’t quite cracked the Top 5 formula yet in musical identity. ~ Joel

While all of these entries are relatively likeable and have led to a decent run of results for Armenia, when considered as a whole they feel like a bit of a random dartboard of a run. It doesn't feel like tje Armenian broadcaster has a strong sense of what they're looking for at Eurovision - which on the one hand is a good thing, because going from Rosa Linn to Brunette to Ladaniva to Parg is a joyously weird progression which kind of sums up Eurovision, but on the other hand doesn't give one confidence that there's a broader vision at work here. I wouldn't be surprised to see Armenia hit the jackpot one of these years, but overall I think the 2020s have been less strong for the country than the previous decade was. ~ Craig

I really do feel that Armenia is likely to be the next non-winning country to win Eurovision. They are consistent and even when we don't think they will qualify, they pull it out of the bag (looking at you Parg). My fave this decade is definitely Ladaniva - FUN!! ~ Hayley

Armenia's 100% qualification rate this decade so far is exceptional, especially given the circumstances of their 2021 withdrawal. Extra marks for the one top ten placing and the great commercial success of Rosa Linn. Their performance is remarkable, especially given they have a population of around 2 million like Albania (who we discussed yesterday). Armenia is a Junior Eurovision powerhouse and in their first five participations they never finished outside the top 10, so there is room for improvement. But I have a feeling an Armenian act will definitely will definitely Snap into the top 5 sometime this decade. ~ Sam

"Hats off to their 100% qualifying record and a Top 10, however, I don't feel Armenia has even been close to being a contender in recent times. Their history of being Top 10 in over half their entries shows that they can and are almost expected to be up there. I don't understand their 2020s musical "identity" - outside Jako, the songs could come from anywhere. ~ Dale

Rosa Linn, Brunette, and Ladaniva are likeable entries, to be honest. But Parg just threw me off. ~ John Christian

Armenia have been bringing great, diverse songs this decade. Each song and performance has a lot of energy that takes me back to their first 4 entries in the late 2000’s. It feels like a country trying to blend its traditional music styles with 21st century modern music and so far, it’s done it fantastically. I think also to have a 4 strong qualification streak without an ally of Russia in the competition shows that they’re starting to be more competitive across Western Europe. ~ Tim
