Nyendra wins national final to represent Bhutan at Eurovision Asia 2026

Nyendra will represent Bhutan at the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia after winning Rhythm of Bhutan with Lhayi Semo (The Angel).
Bhutan became the first country to select its entry for Eurovision Asia, with five acts competing in the national final broadcast live from the BBS Studios in Thimphu.
Nyendra came out on top following a combination of voting from a professional jury, the Bhutanese public and viewers around the world.
The professional jury (below) accounted for 40% of the result, with another 40% coming from the Bhutanese public and the remaining 20% from the Rest of the World vote.
Nyendra to represent Bhutan
Thukten Nyendra will take Lhayi Semo (The Angel) to Bangkok after winning Bhutan’s national final.
The 24-year-old Bhutanese singer-songwriter and producer works across pop, folk-pop, acoustic and R&B.
After moving to Thimphu to pursue music, Nyendra began independently writing and producing his own material in both English and Dzongkha.
Lhayi Semo finished second in the Aussievision team rankings ahead of the national final.
Rhythm of Bhutan full results
The final positions of Rhythm of Bhutan were:
1. Nyendra – Lhayi Semo (The Angel) - 52 points
2. Sangay Lhaden Band – Pemi Tshewang Tashi (The Legend) - 41 points
3. Baeyul 301 – Drenpa (The Memories) -36 points
4. Karma Drupchu – Pha Yuel (The Homeland) - 32 points
5. Pelden Wangchuk – Jo’Druel (The Journey) - 19 points
Bhutan makes Eurovision Asia history
The result makes Nyendra the first artist ever selected to represent Bhutan at the Eurovision Song Contest Asia.
It is also the first entry selected for the inaugural contest, officially marking the start of the Eurovision Asia national final season.
Bhutan will compete at the first Eurovision Song Contest Asia, which takes place in Bangkok, Thailand, on Saturday 14 November.
The contest will bring together broadcasters and artists from across the Asia-Pacific region for the first edition of the new Eurovision event.
