North Macedonia release their Eurovision 2020 entry 'You' by Vasil

North Macedonia have released their song for Eurovision in Rotterdam - ‘You’ by Vasil.

‘You’ is written by Nevena Neskoska, a North Macedonian composer. The lyrics are written by Nevena Neskoska, Kalina Neskoska and Alice Schroeder.

Vasil was first announced as North Macedonia’s representative by the broadcaster MRT in January. The following month Vasil revealed the song name and cover art on his Instagram account. Last week he teased a small audio snippet, which aligned with interviews where he had spoken about liking ethno influences in his pop music.

Vasil was a backing singer last year for Tamara Todevska on her big jury favourite ‘Proud’.

He has been following a path in music his whole life, taking part in children’s music festivals becoming quite a big child star in North Macedonia. After moving to the US with his family, he became a soloist in the Chicago Children’s Choir and later studied music in Toronto and Milan. In the last few years he has returned to North Macedonia and has been releasing music in his home country.

North Macedonia had their best result at Eurovision last year finishing 7th, it was also their first qualifier since 2012. They will be hoping Vasil can get them to Saturday night.
