After more than 30 years away, Luxembourg made a triumphant return to the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö back in 2024, and was then followed by Laura Thorn, who carried the flag for the Grand Duchy last year.
Now, aiming to reach the Grand Final for a third consecutive time, Luxembourgish broadcaster RTL has unveiled the eight songs competing in the Luxembourg Song Contest 2026, all hoping to become the country’s next Eurovision representative in Vienna.
Twelve members of the Aussievision team has listened to all eight entries and ranked them from favourite to least favourite. Points were allocated using the traditional Eurovision system of 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2 and 1.
Scroll on to discover which songs impressed our team the most.
8. Steve Castile - Sweet Tooth - 38 points
Highs: 12 points from John Christian, 10 points from Dale
Lows: 1 point from Cooper, Fleur, Kyriakos, Laura, Liv, Paul, Sam and Srdjan, 2 points from Tim
"This might be better than "Poison Cake", and I think it is a pretty decent song but the risks are very high for a country who haven't sent a full English-language entry for Luxembourg." ~John Christian
"I almost didn't want to rank this as high as 10 points but I honeslty keep going back to it. It's dated dad rock meets musical theatre meets glam 70s rock with some awful lyrics set to an amazing hooky chorus. I do love Steve's voice and think he'll do it justice live. I am living for this beautiful mess of a song." ~Dale
"Keep being a dog in the bedroom Steve, don't put it in a Eurovision song. Certainly one of the weirdest and most ick lyrics ever at a Eurovision selection." ~Sam
7. Andrew the Martian - I'm The Martian -Â 41 points
Highs: 8 points from Tim, 6 points from Cooper
Lows: 2 points from Dale, Fleur, John Christian, Laura, and Paul, 3 points from Kyriakos, Sam and Srjdan
"It's quite the messy song. However, at least the concept is sonically and lyrically consistent, and it will catch attention." ~Paul
6. ShiroKuro - Eye to Eye -Â 52 points
Highs: 12 points from Fleur, 8 points from Dale
Lows: 1 point from Joel and John Christian, 2 points from Cooper and Sam
"For me this is the best of the lot. It just needs to be a bit more rockier, then we would have a fairly decent entry. It's not bad, it's just not completely there yet." ~Fleur
5. Hugo One - Born Again -Â 55 points
Highs: 12 points from Sam, 8 points from Joel and John Christian
Lows: 1 point from Tim, 2 points from Kyriakos, Liv and Srdjan
"Top marks for a nice name, friendly face, and a listenable and not weird song." ~Sam
4. Eva Marija - Mother Nature -Â 79 points
Highs: 10 points from Fleur, Liv and Tim, 8 points from Cooper, Kyriakos, Paul and Sam
Lows: 1 point from Dale, 3 points from Joel and John Christian
"It's solid, I just think I have heard this before. It has potential to give some epic staging- we'll see." ~Fluer
"There is a nice, gentle familiarity in the production that gives me violent flashbacks to 2012." ~Liv
3. Irem - Bad Decisions (Hush Hush) -Â 82 points
Highs: 12 points from Kyriakos, 10 points from Cooper, Joel, and Srdjan
Lows: 3 points from Liv and Paul, 4 points from John Christian, Sam and Tim
"Bad Decisions is the catchiest song out of the lot for me. It has a huge potential on stage with great choreo. The chorus is super catchy!" ~Kyriakos
"This youthful world-influenced musical style is definitely the direction I’d like to see Luxembourg take. There’s no point in trying to outcompete France with chanson or Belgium with eurodance. I reckon their best chance of success is to forge a unique path with cool catchy pop like this." ~Joel
"A nice pop number that could elevate live on stage." ~Srdjan
2. Daryss - Melusina -Â 90 points
Highs: 12 points from Laura, 10 points from John Christian, Kyriakos, Paul and Sam
Lows: 2 points from Joel, 4 points from Cooper and Dale
"Like water, this song gets in my ears and has a hard time getting out! I love the story behind this song and how it is unique to Luxembourg, providing a fantastic point of difference. The song itself is classy and the delivery is moving, dramatic, and compelling, with its structure making the song feel like a call from the titular siren and drawing me in more and more. I can’t wait to see how the legend of Melusina will be retold with a twist on our TV screens!" ~Laura
"Very reminiscent to Barbara Pravi's Voila in parts. I love this, I can see this do really well at the contest" ~Kyriakos
"This seems an enigma to me because it is strikingly powerful at first, but as it progresses, it becomes more mellow and bolder." ~John Christian
"Voilà , voilà , voilà ..." ~Fleur
"This dramatic French-language chanson is another pleasurable listen. It has this aquatic William Orbit-like flair to it - from calm seas to crashing waves, all building up to a crescendo that is worth the listen. Again, with such an interesting song, there is so much creative potential for staging of this song." ~Paul
"I've placed this higher because I like the old school Eurovision and classy vibe of this song. But this is still quite mediocre." ~Sam
1. Luzac - Prison Doreé - 90 points
Highs: 12 points from Cooper, Dale, Joel, Liv, Paul, Srdjan and Tim 10 points from Laura
Lows: 3 points from Fleur, 6 points from John Christian, Kyriakos and Sam
"This song shocked me when we got to the chorus in all the right ways, in a pretty vanilla national selection this stands out. Hard Techno as a genre has origins in the Benelux, which makes this song an entry that Luxembourg should show off to the world." ~Cooper
"What a banger! This song is right up my alley and could be a moment if staged correctly." ~Srdjan
"A genuinely interesting song - love the switch-up and the vocals, and when the bass kicks in, it kicks in hard. This is already on high-rotation on my playlist. So much creative potential for the staging of this song." ~Paul
"I absolutely adored Luzac’s Je Danse last year and it’s great to see he’s brought the good again this year. He’s injected so much light and shade into this song there’s so many moments that are gonna absolutely pop on the Eurovision stage!" ~Joel
"I don't always require my Eurovision songs to have a pulse, but it certainly helps, and Luzac's entry is certainly the only entry that fulfilled that criteria." ~Liv
"Luzac has brought another great Luxembourg Song Contest entry. It feels fully realised and has some terrific high-tempo progressive builds (to full techno at times) with quieter moments throughout. This feels out of 'The Code' style of songwriting we've seen these last few years but still feels like it's put its own stamp on it." ~Dale
"Why is my jaw on the other side of the floor??? This is brilliant because it stands out in a pretty decent crop of songs. It’s memorable and it’s strong. This has the potential to do really well in May, however its biggest hiccup will come in this National Final. It’s got the potential to win it but I’m not confident that everyone will like it. For me though, this is fantastic and already a highlight of the season." ~Tim
The Luxembourg Song Contest will take place on 24 January 2026 - tune in to find out how close the results mirror our ranking!
