The Lithuanian National Final Eurovizijos Atranka 2020 got underway this weekend with the first of the elimination heats.
In the elimination heats only the top 6 out of the 12 acts progress to the finals. The successful acts were be selected by 50/50 combination of jury and public televoting.
Heat 1 Results:
1. Monika Marija "If I Leave” - 24 points
2. Baltos Varnos "Namų dvasia” - 20 points
3. Meandi”DRIP" - 18 points
4. Gabrielius Vagelis "Tave čia randu” - 13 points
5. Andy Vaic "Why Why Why” - 12 points
6. Petunija "Show Ya” - 11 points
7. Aika “Paradas” - 8 points
8. Glossarium "Game Over” - 6 points
9. Aistay "Dangus man tu” - 5 points
10. Justinas Lapatinskas "Highway Story” - 1 point
11. Donata Virbilaitė "Made of Wax” - 1 point
12. Lukas Norkūnas “Atsiprašyk" - 0 point
The show belonged to Monika Marija who returns following her runner up finish in last years national final with “Light On”.
Her country flavoured pop song “If I Leave” was the favourite of the night. She topped the jury votes with a total of 54 points and smashed the televoting with 1006 votes giving her a total combined score of 24 points to win the night.
An online favourite was Gabrielius Vagelis with "Tave čia randu”. It is his fifth attempt in Eurovizijos Atranka. He gave a strong performance along with his kimono style outfit.
The runner ups Baltos Varnos had to be the surprise of the night. The female duo performed a beautiful and elegant ballad, "Namų dvasia”.
The performance of "Show Ya” by Petunija was a showstopper. With a groovy electronica beat and lyrics like “Today we're making Lithuania famous” which made it enthralling.
Heat 2 of Eurovizijos Atranka 2020 will be on January 18 in Europe and January 19 in Australia.
