Representing Malta this year at the 2025 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Tbilisi is Eliza Borg with her song I Believe.

You can find details about the entry, the artist and Malta's history in Junior Eurovision below.

About the artist: Eliza Borg

Twelve-year-old Eliza Borg is a young artist who combines a deep vocal tone beyond her years with a real talent and flair for dancing. Only discovering her vocal gifts in the last two years, Eliza quickly commenced vocal lessons to refine her abilities.

Eliza loves to dance and considers dancing to be an integral part of her identity as an up-and-coming artist. As well as singing and dancing, she also plays the flute and the cello.

Eliza won the opportunity to represent Malta at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest after she won Season 2 of the singing program The Voice Kids Malta. As part of The Voice Kids, Eliza was coached by former Junior Eurovision winner and Eurovision superstar Destiny Chukunyere.

About the song: I Believe

I Believe is a big power ballad which recounts Eliza's journey from winning The Voice Kids all the way to Junior Eurovision. The ballad provides numerous opportunities for Eliza to show off her powerful vocal tone, and overall has an edge that reminds one of the classic Disney songs of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The lyrics of the song strongly resonate with Eliza's experience on the Junior Eurovision stage, as she sings "Wish this moment lasts forever / Take a picture to remember" and "I don't want this moment to end".

The music video for the song, produced by PBS in collaboration with Malta-based Space Studios, caused controversy in Malta due to its use of AI-generated content. While PBS has defended the decision to use generative AI, an open letter signed by more than 200 creatives in Malta was highly critical of this decision, saying it deprived Maltese creatives of opportunities and that the broadcaster ignored their previously-expressed concerns about the decision.

Malta in Junior Eurovision Song Contest

Malta is one of the mainstay countries at Junior Eurovision, having missed only two contests since the Contest's launch in 2003. They proved to be formidable competition in the early 2010s, coming in the top six every year from 2013 to 2018 bar one. During this period, they also won the contest twice, with Gaia Cauchi's The Start in 2013 and Destiny Chukunyere's Not My Soul in 2015.

Destiny, of course, would later return to represent Malta at the main Eurovision event in 2021, where she came seventh with her song Je me casse.

Last year, Ramires Sciberras took Malta to their best result at Junior Eurovision in some years, coming in fifth with his powerful Maltese-language ballad Stilla ċkejkna.
