Today in the Icelandic National Final ‘Söngvakeppnin 2020’ another five acts competed for two spots in the Final/Super Final to be held on February 29. A wildcard entry was also selected by the producers to make it five entries that will compete in the Final.
The top two entries were decided solely through televoting to proceed into the final.
All songs are performed in Icelandic for the Semi Finals. They are then to be performed in their intended language for Eurovision in the Final.
Th acts for Semi Final 2 were:
Daði & Gagnamagnið ‘Gagnamagnið’ (Think About Things)
Hildur Vala ‘Fellibylur’ (Hurricane)
Iva ‘Oculis Videre’ (The eyes can see))
Nina ‘Ekkó’ (Echo)
Matti Matt ‘Dreyma’ (Dreaming)
Daði & Gagnamagnið was the first act to secure a spot in the Final with their entry ‘Gagnamagnið’ (Think about things). They wore the green costumes from their music video which was released on Thursday. This synth-disco pop song will definitely be one to watch in the final.
Fan-favourite, Iva won the second spot with her haunting, ethereal ballad ‘Oculis Videre’ (The eyes can see). Iva a vision in white, put in a competent performance. She tried out for ‘The Voice’ in 2016 when she performed the Kate Bush classic “Wuthering Heights’. No one turned their chairs for her! Will Eurovision be her destiny?
The wildcard went to the other female in white- Nina. She really had the crowd on her side with ‘Ekkó’ (Echo). Another solid performance which really impressed the jury.
They will join DIMMA and Ísold & Helga in the Final of ‘Söngvakeppnin 2020’ which will take place on February 29 in Europe and March 1 in Australia.
