Iceland: Söngvakeppnin 2022 artists and songs revealed

Icelandic Eurovision broadcaster RÚV this morning announced the artist and songs that will be competing in this years edition of the long-running national final Söngvakeppnin.


The artists and the entries were announced during a special program on RÚV this morning.


Competing in the first semi-final (which airs at 06:45am AEDT on February 27) is:

  • Amarosis - 'Don't You Know'

  • Stefán Óli – 'Ljósið' / 'All I Know'

  • Haffi Haffi - 'Gía' / 'Volcano'

  • Stefanía Svavarsdóttir - 'Hjartað mitt' / 'Heart of Mine'

  • Sigga, Beta & Elín - 'Með hækkandi sól'


Competing in the second semi-final (which airs at 06:45am AEDT on March 5) is:

  • Hanna Mia and the Astrotourists - 'Séns með þér' / 'Gemini'

  • Katla - 'Þaðan af' / 'Then Again'

  • Markéta Irglová - 'Mögulegt' / 'Possible'

  • Reykjavikurdaetur - 'Tökum af stað' / 'Turn This Around'

  • Suncity and Sanna - 'Hækkum í botn' / 'Keep It Cool'

The artists will compete by singing their entries in Icelandic during the semi-finals, and will be given the choice of whether to sing in Icelandic, English, or any language they wish during the Grand Final, as long as it is how they intend to perform it for Eurovision.


Two songs will be selected from each semi-final to go on to the Grand Final from the public vote, and another song will be saved by the jury to go through, making for a five-song Grand Final.


Söngvakeppnin is set to be hosted by Björg Magnúsdóttir, Jón Jónsson and Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir.
