Eurovision winners Måneskin release cover of 'If I Can Dream' for the film 'Elvis'

Måneskin have released their much anticipated cover of Elvis Presley's infamous ballad 'If I Can Dream' for the new biopic on the King of Rock 'n Roll, 'Elvis' by Australian director Baz Luhrmann.


Back in May the Eurovision 2021 winners performed a sneak peek of 'If I Can Dream' as part of the interval act during the Eurovision 2022 Grand Final in Turin.


Måneskin lead singer Damiano David had explained that where contacted by the 'Moulin Rouge' director himself, Baz Luhrmann, who asked the band to cover the song for the new film, 'Elvis'. The film is a biographical musical drama on the life and career of singer and actor Elvis Presley. It was filmed in Australia from 2020 to 2021.



'If I Can Dream' is a perfect fit with David's vocals. The group visited Graceland to record the song. Covering a song by Elvis has a special meaning for the Måneskin lead singer who shares his birthday with the legend of rock n roll with both born on January 8, just 64 years apart.


Måneskin's cover is will form part of the Elvis Movie original motion picture soundtrack which will also feature songs by artists Doja Cat, Kacey Musgraves, Eminem and Cee Lo Green just to mention a few .


'If I Can Dream' was originally released by Elvis in 1968 and was first performed as the finale to Presley's '68 Comeback Special'. The song was strongly received in Australia where it reached No. 2 on the Kent Music Report chart, the song charted around the world including No. 11 in the Uk and No. 12 in the United States on the Billboard Hot 100.




'If I Can Dream' is now available for download and streaming on online music platforms.
