After years of speculation, it appears the long-mooted Eurovision Song Contest Asia is set to be held for the first time in Bangkok, Thailand, in November this year.
An official website eurovisionasia.com, has been launched promoting the event in Bangkok on Saturday, 14 November 2026.
It's complete with official logos and branding linked to this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, which is taking place in May, along with a link to the official website. The page then reads:
"The world's most iconic music competition is coming to Asia, and it's about to get louder, bolder and bigger than ever.
"From national selection shows across Asia to a live Grand Final in Bangkok, packed with lights, sound and unstoppable energy — this is where the region comes together."
However, no official announcement has yet been made by the EBU.
Further details on the site explain that all participating countries in this year's contest will hold a national selection show, that "every vote will count", and that "This is more than a show. It's a movement. United By Music. Across Asia."
A slideshow lists various countries that are set to participate in this year's contest, with national selection shows "rolling out across participating countries". They include:
Bangladesh
Bhutan
Cambodia
Laos
Malaysia
Nepal
Philippines
Thailand
Vietnam
Eurovision Asia was first announced by the Australian broadcaster, SBS, in 2016, with the first edition to take place in 2017. The plans were stalled and then delayed.
Aussievision has closely followed any potential developments with EurovisionAsia since then. As recently as August last year, Director of the Eurovision Song Contest, Martin Green CBE, stated there were no official announcements at that time.
“While it is no secret that we would love to see an edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Asia, no plans have been confirmed or announced to date.” Green said.
It's unclear how the developments for the debut have eventuated, but it appears the EBU is linking in the launch of EurovisionAsia with Eurovision's 70th Anniversary celebrations.
Further down the website page is a section which reads: "More Artists. More Countries. More Music. A 70-year legacy."
"Born in 1956 with a simple idea — unite nations through music — Eurovision has grown into the world's longest running international music competition.
"The European edition reaches over 160 million viewers each year and has launched global stars across generations. Now, a new chapter begins in Asia."
More info on the Eurovision Asia Song Contest will be revealed as news comes to hand.
