We profile the 2026 entry from Switzerland including details on the artist, song, how it was chosen, odds, fan reaction and how the nation has fared at Eurovision.

Switzerland has seen success at Eurovision from the start of the contest's history, having hosted and won the first edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Lugano in 1956.

Since then, the nation has won Eurovision twice, with Celine Dion's entry Ne partez pas sans moi in 1988 and Nemo's song The Code in 2024.

Switzerland currently possesses one of the longest qualifying streaks of any participating nation at Eurovision, having qualified for the final every year since 2019, when Luca Hänni finished in 4th place with She Got Me.

Hoping to continue that qualification record at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna is Swiss singer Veronica Fusaro and her entry, Alice.

About the artist

Veronica Fusaro is a 29-year-old Swiss singer hailing from Thun. In 2014, she first gained recognition on the second season of The Voice of Switzerland, where she was ultimately eliminated in the Knockout stage of the competition. She rose to prominence in 2019 with the single Rollercoaster, which was promoted through the main radio stations of the Swiss Confederation.

An award-winning artist, Veronica was awarded the Demotape Clinic's Demo of the Year Award in 2016, and was named Best New Talent by Swiss National Radio SRF 3 later that year. In 2023, coinciding with the release of her debut album All the Colors of the Sky, she received the Music Prize of her home city of Thun.

Blending alternative rock with pop influences, Veronica has built a reputation as one of the most distinctive voices on the Swiss music scene. Her current creative chapter centres on her sophomore album Looking for Connection, released in October 2025. The album reflects a growing desire for authenticity and honesty in a digitally overstimulated world.

About the song

Alice is a song created by Veronica in collaboration with British producer Charlie McClean, originally released on the album Looking for Connection. The Eurovision version of the song was released on 11 March 2026.

The track unfolds over three intense minutes, telling the story of a woman whose personal boundaries are gradually crossed. Contrasting a gentle instrumental backing track with explosive guitar stabs, the song explores violence in different forms – not only physical, but also psychological – including manipulation, control, and abuse of power. Through the figure of Alice, Veronica reflects the experience of women who encounter violence that is invisible or not always immediately obvious at first glance.

Speaking about her Eurovision entry, Veronica highlights how easily a person's voice can be taken away, saying:

“The song is about a woman named Alice – it’s even named after her – but she never actually gets to speak. Her story is told entirely by someone else."

Veronica Fusaro's on-stage performance at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest will be directed by Fredrik Rydman.

How was Veronica Fusaro chosen for Eurovision?

On 20th January 2026, Swiss broadcaster SSR SRG announced that Veronica Fusaro was internally selected to be Switzerland's Eurovision entrant for 2026.

The entry was chosen among 493 entries that had been submitted, in a multiple-round process involving a Swiss public panel, an international public panel, and a 25-member international expert jury.

Switzerland will compete in the second semi-final of the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest on 14 May 2026 in Vienna.
