About the Artist

Roxen is the stage name of Larisa Roxana Giurgiu, a 21 year old singer from Cluj-Napoca in Romania. She started singing, dancing and playing the piano at the age of 7, and entered a number of children’s talent contests in Romania.

She became known in 2019 when she featured on a song called ‘You Don’t Love Me’ by producer Sickotoy, which went to number 3 on the Romanian charts and was played on radio stations across Europe and the US.

Since then she has had two solo number 1 singles on the Romanian charts.

In 2020 Roxen was internally selected by the Romanian broadcaster Romanian Television (TVR), through their partnership with Roxen’s record label Global Records. She performed five songs on the selection show Selecția Națională, where ‘Alcohol You’ was chosen as her 2020 Eurovision entry.

RTV promptly confirmed that Roxen would represent Romania in 2021 following the announcement of the cancellation. In March this year ‘Amnesia’ was released.

About the Song

‘Amnesia’ was written by Adelina Stîngă and Victor Bouroșu (also known as Viky Red). Victor also produced the track, and has collaborated with Roxen on a number of her other songs, including ‘Alcohol You’.

It’s a down tempo track, with radio friendly production and has the theme of overcoming self-neglect.

The song was released with a music video filmed in the National Theatre in Bucharest, featuring a contemporary dance performance with a group of dancers in the empty theatre.
