Eurovision 2019 winner Duncan Laurence releases his debut album ‘Small Town Boy’

Eurovision 2019 winner Duncan Laurence has released his debut album ‘Small Town Boy’. It follows the release of his EP ‘Worlds on Fire’ back in May this year.

‘Small Town Boy’ includes his Eurovision winning song ‘Arcade’ and his follow up singles ‘Love Don’t Hate It’, ‘Someone Else’ and ‘Last Night’.

Laurence’s ‘Arcade’ was the fifth Eurovision win for The Netherlands, and 44 years since their last win in 1975 when the Teach-In won with ‘Ding-a-dong’.

‘Arcade’ became the bookies favourite in 2019 and one of the top songs amongst the euro fandom after the release of the very moving yet “cheeky” music video.

In the Eurovision grand final the song finished in second place in the televote, behind Australia’s favourite ‘Spirit In The Sky’ by KEiiNO, and third with the jury, but went on to win the whole Contest with 498 points.

Both the Australian televoters and jury awarded ‘Arcade’ with 6 points each.

Laurence’s new album also includes his recent collaboration with Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren with ‘Feel Something’. Armin van Buuren has previously charted on the Australian ARIA singles charts in 2013 with ‘This Is What It Feels Like’ featuring Trevor Guthrie, which peaked at No.13 and in 2015 with ‘Another You’ featuring Mr Probz which peached at No. 48.

All the tracks previously released on Duncan Laurence’s ‘Worlds on Fire’ EP feature on the album, including ‘Someone Else’ which Laurence performed on ‘Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light’. The tribute show that replaced the cancelled Eurovision 2020 Contest due to COVID-19.

His album does include several unreleased tracks where he worked with many Dutch and American songwriters. He also collaborated with his fiancée Jordan Garfield, who is from the United States, but now lives in Stockholm. They met in Los Angeles while working together.

Laurence and Garfield both revealed their engagement on social media back in October. Laurence shared an Instagram story of his engagement ring with the words “I love you” tagging Garfield.

In response Garfield posted:

“To those of you who I haven’t spoken with recently, I am the luckiest man in the world. I asked @itsducanlaurence to marry me and he said yes. I have never been so happy in my life. I’m going to marry a kind, smark, genuine, talented and handsome man. I’m also marrying my best friend.”

They both collaborated on three previously unreleased tracks, ‘Sleeping On The Phone’, ‘Figure It Out’, ‘Umbrella’ and Laurence’s last solo single release ‘Last Night’.
