This morning saw the last of the semi-finals of Sweden’s Eurovision national selection show ‘Melodifestivalen’.
Seven acts competed but only four could remain in the competition. 2011 Eurovision third place getter Eric Saade and last year's Melodifestivalen winners The Mamas finished in the top two positions and move directly through to the Grand Final. Efraim Leo and Clara Klingenström earnt the right to compete again in next week's second chance 'Andra Chansen' round.
Just missing out was Alcazar member Tess Merkel. Tess was making her solo debut at Melodifestivalen but had competed four times as part of the band and had also been a back-up singer three times.
Also leaving the competition were singer songwriter Lovad, 28, and dansband Sannex. Both were competing at Melodifestivalen for the first time.
Official voting results will be released later in the week.

Next week will see the 'Andra Chansen' round where the eight songs that finished third and fourth in each semi-final get one more chance to win a ticket to the Grand Final. The eight songs are divided in to four duels with the winner of each duel moving through to the final scheduled for 13th March.
