Duncan Laurence’s Arcade becomes the first Eurovision song to hit the Billboard Hot 100 in 24 years

Duncan Laurence's Eurovision winning song 'Arcade' has hit another milestone! This time he has landed on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States at No. 100, the last time this occurred was way back in 1997 when the United Kingdom's Eurovision 1996 entry 'Ooh Aah... Just a Little Bit' charted on the Hot 100 peaking at No. 12.

'Ooh Aah... Just a Little Bit' is by Australia's own Gina G and went on to be nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording in 1998.

Duncan Laurence won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel, with a spectacular and emotional performance of ‘Arcade’ representing the Netherlands. His win gave the Netherlands their fifth Eurovision win.

'Arcade' become the 11th original Eurovision entry to chart on the US Billboard Hot 100. You can check 'Every Eurovision song to chart on the US Billboard Hot 100' here.

The song is also currently sitting at No. 13 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart, No. 18 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 Airplay chart and No. 38 on the Mainstream Top 40.

In June 2019 'Arcade' had appeared on the Billboard Euro Digital Song Sales chart at No. 2.

The momentum behind the songs return to the charts began at the end of 2020 when the song became popular on TikTok. Currently the version of 'Arcade' featuring FLETCHER has been featured in over 590 thousand videos, and is highlighted as popular. The original 'Arcade' has been featured in over 400 thousand videos.

The songs success on TikTok seems to have stemmed from Harry Potter fans who were making videos using cut scenes from the Harry Potter films to show case the good in Draco Malfoy's character.

Duncan Laurence's 'Arcade' had been hovering around the top of the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Chart for several weeks now and it was only a matter of time it reached the Hot 100.

Last week Duncan Laurence featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show where he performed his Eurovision winning song in a duet version with singer FLETCHER (in a pre-recorded performance due to Covid-19 restrictions). You can watch it here.

Duncan is now no stranger to the US screens as in March this year he made he debut appearance in the US on the NBC's The Today Show. You can watching his moving performance here.

On Spotify in the US 'Arcade' has peaked at No. 59 on the Spotify Daily Chart and at No. 63 on the Spotify Weekly Chart.
