Dami Im and Tania Doko nominated in the Australian Women in Music Awards

The nominees for the Australian Women in Music Awards were announced yesterday, and two Australian Eurovision artists have received nominations.

Australian 2016 representative Dami Im and ‘Eurovision – Australia Decides’ 2019 competitor Tania Doko have both been nominated for the Songwriter Award, alongside Lisa Young.

Dami previously won the Humanitarian Award at the Australian Women in Music Awards in 2019.

The awards ceremony has been postponed for the second year in a row due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, making the October ceremony impossible to work with, and will now be held in-person in Brisbane from 17-18 May, 2022.

In a statement regarding the decision to postpone the awards ceremony, executive director of the Australian Women in Music Awards Vicki Gordon said:

“As a national event which draws on the creative expertise of artists and music practitioners from every state, combined with our priority to provide safe travel for First Nations women from regional and remote communities, the risk of producing a safe event at this stage is unacceptably high.”

We here at the Aussievision team wish the best of luck to both Dami and Tania in the Australian Women in Music Awards.
