Blas Cantó will represent Spain at Eurovision 2020

Today RTVE announced Blas Cantó will represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam 2020.

The 27-year-old was a member of the former boy band Auryn who had a string of hits and number one albums in Spain from 2009 into the 2010s.

Auryn also attempted to represent Spain in 2011, where they made the final three but missed out on a ticket to compete in the contest.

Cantó has gone on to release his own music (including a single in English) and also won the fifth edition of 'Your Face Sounds Familiar'.

At this point only the artist has been announced.

This is the first time since 2015 that Spain has gone with an internal selection.

The big five nation has struggled in recent years with five entries in a row finishing in the lower than 20th place.

Their last entry in the top 10 was Ruth Lorenzo in 2014 and the last time they won was 1969.
