Australia will not compete at Junior Eurovision 2023

In news that is unlikely to cause a surprise to most fans, Australia will not be in Junior Eurovision 2023.

Both ABC and SBS have confirmed to Aussievision that Australia will not be participating in or broadcasting the event this year.

A spokesperson at SBS stated:

"There are no current plans to broadcast or compete in this year's Junior Eurovision"

Whilst ABC ME confirmed the non-participation saying:

‘ABC ME does not have plans to broadcast Junior Eurovision in 2023’.

Australia last competed at Junior Eurovision in 2019 when Jordan Anthony finished 8th.

This was the fifth year in a row Australia finished top 10 since our debut in 2015.

Junior Eurovision will be held in Nice, France on 26 November of this year after the nation won the 2022 Contest.

15 nations have so far confirmed their participation.

Australians should still be able to watch Junior Eurovision via the official YouTube account, but this will be confirmed closer to the event.

And for those of you asking, no there isn't any news yet whether Australia will be back in the main Eurovision Song Contest in 2024 and beyond.
