Aussievision team ranking of OGAE Second Chance 2026 contest

The annual OGAE Second Chance Contest sees each official fan club select a song that didn't win their national final battle it out in a Eurovision style contest to find the most popular entry that didn't make it to the Contest this year.
The competition has been running since 1987 and Sweden won it last year thanks to Klara Hammarström and her entry On and On and On. It was Norway's fourth title. OGAE Sweden therefore get to host the contest this year.
Australia does not have an entry as we did not host a national final in 2026 and instead internally selected Delta Goodrem.
Thirteen Aussievision team members have gone through all the entries and voted for our favourites in the ususal Eurovision points system.

"Her National Final song is way better than the one sent to Vienna. She represents the embodiment of the strength Ukraine has been experiencing, and I think she would win with ease." ~John Christian
8. Sweden: Greczula – Half of me (43 points)

"I had the most number of personal favs at this year's Melfest for a number of years with Sanna, Meira, Felicia and Greczula all incredible. Greczula was head and above the best bloke at Melfest this year and in hindsight may have been a better choice for Eurovision than Felicia. Various commentators have said Half of Me takes inspiration ABBA, Laura Branigan and Queen. I love all these artists so no wonder I love this song! I hope Greczula has his chance to represent Sweden at Eurovision proper at some stage, because I would love to see Sweden send rock (even if it is watered down and more pop-esqe) to the main contest." ~Sam

"As much as Alicja sung the hell out of her entry this year, I always felt like Basia's song was the more superior one to represent Poland this year. This song reminds me of a Polish version of Go-A's Shum and could have really lit up the stage in Vienna, as well as go nuts on the scoreboard." ~Paul

"The world is a better place with Matt Blxck and whatever it is he brings to MESC every year. This song sounds like the cross between a halloween anthem and EDM folk hit and I'm here for it. Yeah the production leaves a bit wanting but it's catchy nontheless." ~Liv

"Montesong was another national final that was stacked with a wealth of riches this year. Temperatura could have easily morphed into a decent Eurovision entry if given time to work on staging for a more dynamic package." ~Joel
3. Germany: Wavvyboi – Black Glitter (60 points)

"The German national selection this year was an absolute joke with a copy-cat, sub-par rip-off beating true originality. Wavvyboi absolutely rocked the national selection stage and should've been Germany's representative to Eurovision. But like they often do the Germans got it wrong. Admittedly Wavvyboi's vocals were poor, but they more than made up with stage presence, looks and a killer track. The added novelty of them hailing from Liechtenstein makes this a thoroughly unique act that I'm glad gets a second chance." ~Sam
"My one weakness is 2000s pop rock and wavvyboi has given us a track that sounds like prime 2006 My Chemical Romance with a fantastic live performance to boot! Every Black Parade needs some Black Glitter and wavvyboi certainly delivers - I hope they will be back to represent Germany or their home country of Liechtenstein at Eurovision in the future!" ~Laura

I was so obsessed with this a Eurovision media colleague kept a pair of her red and white souvenir gloves for me as a gift. Would love to see Erick Jane back at DMGP and at Eurovision one day." ~Dale

"What can I say? This is art and a testament to the depth of Sanremo in terms of song quality. Che fastidio! could have easily come top 5 at Eurovision this year, the Italian music industry is that strong. It has everything - the composition, the live performance, the works!" ~Laura

About the OGAE Second Chance contest
The 39th annual contest, hosted by OGAE Italy, saw 25 songs compete for a second chance at Eurovision glory, after failing to win national selection in their home country’s Eurovision selection process.
Members from the OGAE fan clubs vote for their favourite songs in a Eurovision-style contest, awarding 12 points to the most popular entry, 10 points for second, 8 points for third and so on.
The victor is determined entirely by the votes of OGAE fan clubs from participating nations, combined with guest juries from countries that did not hold a national selection for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
