All the Eurovision winning songs that have appeared on the ESC250 countdowns



Out of the 68 Eurovision winning songs, 60 of these songs have made an appearance at least once on the ESC250 countdowns since they began in 2008.


Every New Year's Eve, Eurovision fans around the world tune into ESCRadio to hear the Top 250 Eurovision songs (ESC250) voted by fans organised by the Belgian Eurovision site Songfestival.be.


The 2021 edition of ESC2021 wrapped up on New Years Day where 'Euphoria' remained at No.1 for its tenth year in a row. Today, we explore all the Eurovision winning songs that have appeared in the ESC250 over the years.


Before we begin, eight Eurovision winning have failed to appear on the ESC250 over its 14 year history. They include:

  • Tanel Padar, Dave Benton and 2XL - 'Everybody' - Estonia - 2001

  • Lulu - 'Boom Bang-a-Bang' - United Kingdom - 1969

  • Massiel - 'La, la, la' - Spain - 1968

  • Isabelle Aubret - 'Un premier amour' - France - 1962

  • Jean-Claude Pascal - 'Nous les amoureux' - Luxembourg - 1961

  • Jacqueline Boyer - 'Tom Pillibi' - France - 1960

  • André Claveau - 'Dors, mon amour' - France - 1958

  • Corry Brokken - 'Net als toen' - Netherlands - 1957

The Eurovision winning songs that have appeared in the ESC250 over the years are listed below as follows.


No.248 - Linda Martin - 'Why Me' - Ireland - 1992 - 1 time in ESC250


No.232 - Sandie Shaw - 'Puppet on a String' - United Kingdom - 1967 - 1 time in ESC250

Surprisingly the UK's first every Eurovision winning entry has only ever appeared once in the ESC250, which was back in 2013.

No.228 - Udo Jürgens - 'Merci, Chérie' - Austria - 1966 - 2 times in ESC250

The first Eurovision winning entry only ever appeared in the ESC250 the once, back in 2011.

No.160 - Marie N - 'I Wanna' - Latvia - 2002 - 1 time in ESC250

'I Wanna' is one of the Eurovision winning songs that appears not to be very popular within Eurovision fandom. The Latvian winning entry has only featured the one time in the ESC250 which was back in second edition of the countdown in 2009.

'Waterloo' is the oldest Eurovision winning entry to ever make it into the ESC250 top 10. It has peaked at No.6 twice in 2009 and 2015 and has remained in the top 20 since the ESC250 began. In the 2021 edition of ESC250 'Waterloo' sat at No. 20.

'Euphoria' made its debut in the top spot in 2012 and is yet to be dethroned. The song was a turning point for the Eurovision Song Contest and holds a legacy possibly bigger than any other Eurovision song in recent history. Read all about the history and legacy of 'Euphoria' here.
