Our international fan of the day is someone many of you will know from Twitter as @orlandovelvet
Check out his Q&A with us below.
What is your name and where are you from?
Hello! My name is Orlando De Oliveira Nunes ( Orlando Oliveira for short ) and I am from Belgium ! I'm 22 years old and am Belgian / Italian with Portuguese roots
Tell us something interesting about yourself?
I am a nurse and a gamer but besides those things my real passion in life is ESC, sadly however I have almost nobody in real life who shares the passion with me to the extend I do.
When did you first get into Eurovision?
Oh that's a pretty long time ago, watching ESC has been a family tradition for a very long time now, the first memory I have is Croatia 1998, when I was only 3 years old, still one of the best songs in the contest!
Wow starting out as an ESC fan super young! ~ Aussievision
What is your favourite Eurovision and why?
My fav is 2009 because the song quality is through the roof, I love almost every song in the final and it's the ESC I most vividly remember the most from. it's also the ESC where my all time fav song comes from
It was a cracking year and that stage was epic!
Which Eurovision song:
Is your favourite?
My fav Eurovision song has to be Randajad, Estonia 2009. The song is a timeless classic and brings me to another dimension while I listen to it, from the moment I heard it in 2009 I fell in love with it and the love only grew stronger over time!
Brilliant choice, took us a while to 'get' it but damn obsessed now
Is overrated?
Overrated? That's an easy one to answer for me. I absolutely cannot stand Poland 2016 or Russia 2016. I honestly dislike them equally, I cannot choose ( I am still not over those undeserving high televote scores
We love them both. Eek.
Was robbed?
And for robbed oh dear friends, queen Dami Im the first of Australia of course. When I saw her performance for the first time I cried, it was too good to behold
Now THIS we can agree on. All hail the true Queen of Australia.
Had the best live performance?
For best live performance Imma shake it up and say Latvia 2015, Aminata Savadogo brought Latvia back into the game with that amazing song and performance
Yes turned a solid song into a brilliant performance
Did you last play?
I last played the new version of City Lights, I do not know if you guys have seen, heard the performance? But you should really check it out!
Is your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure needs to be Iceland 2010, I absolutely adore that song and that performance just blows me away everytime, it's in my top 3 of 2010
Not that guilty a pleasure, it's brilliant!
Any other interesting honourable mentions?
Other honorable mentions? Well let's say anything my country has send the past 3 years I adore and I also absolutely love Iceland and France 2009
Do you follow the national finals? If so have any songs caught your attention so far this year?
I do not follow all of them, but I try to follow most! At the moment I am really into Nicoline ' light me up ' and Charla k her ' stop the music '. I also LOVE ok ou ko ( especially after that fierce performance ).
What do you think of Australia being in Eurovision?
At first I was sceptical of Australia being in ESC but they up the bar for all the other countries to send decent entries because the quality they send is so high and I love every single song of them so I am so so happy we have them
What do you think of our artist this year – Jessica Mauboy?
Jess well, I LOVE her ballads but apparently she is sending an upbeat song? I am not too keen on that but let's see, maybe she will surprise me
Hoping she does!
Sea of Flags, Tonight Again, Sound of Silence or Don’t Come Easy?
And oh controversy alert, I love the studio version of don't come easy the most out of all of those. Dami easily wins best live performance though
Wow interesting!
Anything else you’d like to share?
And as an ending note, people should really check out your podcast, it's fantastic and at times pretty funny!
Aww thanks we'll post you the cheque later...
Thanks for your time Orlando!
