ESC250 - Twitter predictions

Each year Songfestival.be surveys fans to find out their favourite 250 Eurovision songs of all time. Loreen with Euphoria has won the competition five years running with Grande Amore and You Are The Only One rounding out the podium. Fans have until December 10 to vote at: https://songfestival.be/en/frontpage-main/stem-jij-loreen-weer-op-nummer-1-in-de-esc-top-250/

Fans also have the chance to post their personal top 10s to social channels including Twitter. These posts have allowed us to take a snapshot of what songs people are voting for this year and see if there is a potential upset on the cards.

We analysed almost 100 posts from fans and our key predictions are:

  • Sergey Lazarev may give Loreen a run for her money. 'You Are the Only One' has more individual votes but 'Euphoria' has a higher average of points per vote

  • Sanna Nielsen's 'Undo' could make a big come back from outside the top 20 and into the top 10

  • 'Grande Amore', 'Quédate Conmigo' and '1944' will hold their top 10 positions.

  • Salvador Sobral will enter the top 10 on his first attempt but may struggle to make the top 5

  • maNga with 'We Could Be The Same' could finish in the top 10

  • Francesco Gabbani will finish in the top 20, could he sneak into the 10? 'City Lights' will be around the 20th mark

  • Poli Genova, Conchita Wurst and Amir will have big drops

  • 'A Monster Like Me', 'Randajad' and 'I Feed You My Love' will jump the highest

  • 'Milim', 'L’Essenziale', 'Birds' and 'One More Time' will re-enter the top 100.

  • And on the Australian front 'Sound of Silence' and 'Tonight Again' may have minor drops or stay steady while 'Don't Come Easy' may not make the 250.
