'Australia' will compete in the Portuguese national song contest

On Thursday Portugal named the 26 artists who will be competing in Festival da Canção - their national song contest to choose their Eurovision entrant.

Among the artists selected in Anabela who performed at the 1993 contest finishing 10th.

The other entrant catching our eye was Bruno Vasconcelos.... now we don't Bruno from a bar of soap but.... his song is called...

“Austrália”

How awesome is that? I mean we don't know if it's a good or bad song about Australia but we'll take a positive approach for now. We can't find too much on Bruno, but he looks like a young and up and coming singer and we wish him best of luck.

The other big news is that Eurovsion 2017 winner Salvador Sobral's sister (who famously wrote the song, rehearsed for him and performed live on stage after he won) will be a Portuguese Jury member for Festival da Canção.
