What has Iceland's Daði Freyr been up to since Eurovision 2021?

Article by Melanie Dillman

Iceland’s National Day, Þjóðhátíðardagurinn is celebrated today, on June 17.  To commemorate this, we are looking back at one of Iceland’s most successful Eurovision participants and finding out what they've been up to post-Eurovision.

Daði & Gagnamagnið were selected to represent Iceland at both the 2020 and 2021 Eurovision Song Contests.

The group, with their quirky personalities, unique dance moves and distinctive costumes quickly became a fan favourite.

Daði Freyr, lead vocalist and songwriter, has been busy since the conclusion of the 2021 Contest. He has welcomed a new addition to his family, released albums and toured with sold-out shows.

Family

After competing in Rotterdam in May 2021, Daði and his wife, fellow group member, Árný, welcomed a second daughter, Kría Sif.

Daði’s first child, Áróra Björg, was the inspiration for his 2020 Eurovision song, Think About Things, and his 2021 Eurovision song, 10 Years, was a love letter to Árný. Could another Eurovision hit be on its way, inspired by Kría Sif?

Music

Daði’s musical accomplishments have expanded too since 2021.

In May 2022 he collaborated on the single, make me feel so… released by Australian artist and fellow Eurovision 2020/2021 participant, Montaigne.

Later that year in October, he did another collaboration, this time with German band Tokio Hotel on their single,

HAPPY PEOPLE.

In 2023 Daði released two EPs, one in March called, I’m Making an Album 1/3 and one in May called, I’m Still Making an Album 2/3

In August 2023, he released his first album since competing at Eurovision called, I Made an Album.

Eurovision 2023

Even the Eurovision Song Contest hasn’t forgotten Daði.  He performed as an interval act at the 2023 song contest in Liverpool with his cover of Atomic Kitten’s Whole Again

It featured everything the fans could have asked for: signature dance moves, iconic costumes and catchy vocal dynamics.

It was also the first time he got to perform live on the Eurovision stage. In 2020 the event was cancelled and in 2021 some members of the group tested positive for COVID so their rehearsal footage was used for the live shows. Unfortunately, they had to watch all the events unfold from their hotel room.

Touring

Fans around the world have been supporting Daði on numerous tours since his appearance in Rotterdam.

Immediately following the Contest, he toured the UK and Ireland.  This was followed up with tours across Europe and the US in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

His current European tour concludes at the end of June before he heads back to the US with performances throughout July and August.

Of significant note, Daði is performing at LOLLAPALOOZA in Chicago on August 1st.

He is also vlogging his experience of touring which you can catch on his YouTube channel.

It's fair to say that Daði Freyr is grasping opportunities with both hands.  With his expanding family, growing music collection and increasing fanbase, Daði has one thing still to accomplish:  A tour of Australia! (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)

I wanted to get started with online betting but wasn’t sure how the sign-up process worked. When I visited https://zepo.in/registration/ , it was super easy to understand. The site guides you step by step, and it took me just a few minutes to complete the registration. They also offer a nice welcome bonus, which was a great incentive to sign up. The instructions were clear, and everything went smoothly, which made me feel confident about using the site. I’m glad I picked Zepo.

I was blown away when I heard that Christian Horner drove the RB8 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Seeing the team principal handle the same car Vettel used to win titles adds a whole new layer of excitement. If you’re curious about how it went down and want to see some great photos, First time I’ve driven a Red Bull F1 car. It really captures the spirit of F1 history in action!

Hello, everyone! I would like to share my impressions of watching the presentation of the English national team at the 2024 European Football Championship. This event was fascinating and impressed me with its atmosphere and professionalism of the team. In addition, I want to mention the app mobile application Mostbet, which was great for betting on the championship matches. This application provided quick access to bets and gave the opportunity to enjoy every goal and emotional intensity of every match. Highly recommended
