Melodi Grand Prix Central Norway artists announced



Norsk Rikskringkasting (NRK) have announced the 4 artists and songs that will compete in the Central Norway Semi of Melodi Grand Prix (MGP) this Saturday January 25 (Sunday January 26, Australian time).

They are:

  • Alexandru- ‘Pink Jacket’

  • Kristin Husøy- ‘Pray For Me’

  • Sie Gubba- ‘Kjære du’

  • Thomas Løseth- ‘Vertigo’

Alexandru is 19 years old from Rennebu. He previously competed in Melodi Grand Prix in 2016 in a boy band called 'Suite 16'. They finished up in 3rd place with their song 'Anna Lee'. He loves to listen to punk and death metal music, though thats not the style of music he produces. He has had a lot of experience, even performing in front of millions of people on a Chinese TV show.


Kristin Husøy is only 18 years old and lives in Trondheim. She began playing piano at a young age. Last year she took a break from school to compete in 'The Voice' on TV2. She is inspired by many artists in the soul, jazz and R&B genres. They include Amy Winehouse, Stevie Wonder and Lauryn Hill.


The band Sie Gubba first formed in 1995. This year they celebrate their 25th anniversary performing together. Their musical style is folk, fiddle and singalong. They previously competed in Melodi Grand Prix in 2011. They performed 'Alt du vil ha' which got them to the final.


Thomas Løseth is 33 years old and comes from Fannrem. He previous won 'The Voice' in 2017. During the show he was mentored by Norwegian artist Lene Marlin. Thomas is known for his silky voice. He is currently working on his debut album this year.


The winner of the semi will join Raylee and Rein Alexander along with the 5 pre-qualifiers in the Final on February 15. Rein Alexander won the Eastern Norway Semi over the weekend with his epic performance of 'One Last Time'.

Akuvi will perform her song ‘Som Du Er’ (As You Are) during this weekend’s competition. She is a neo-soul vocalist, songwriter and entertainer of Norwegian and Ghanian heritage. Her music influences include RnB, Rap, Soul, Reggae and African Pop. This will be her first MGP attempt.

NRK will announce the artists and songs for the Western Norway Semi on January 27.
