Mäns Zelmerlöw and Divina de Campo to take part in the Isolation Song Contest

Looking for more Eurovision themed entertainment while in isolation?

Well the ‘Isolation Song Contest’ might be the answer. It will take place on Saturday night May 2, and early Sunday morning May 3 in Australia.

Entertainers from far and wide will take part in this fundraiser for charity in tribute to Eurovision while in lockdown.

14 performers will take part and have been randomly given a country to represent. All the acts have one week to write a Eurovision style song to perform in a music video which captures the spirit of the country they are representing.

Most notable performers include ‘Eurovision: Australia Decides 2020’ special guest performer and Eurovision Song Contest 2015 winner Mäns Zelmerlöw who will represent the United Kingdom and Divina de Campo, from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, who was part of Frock Destroyers with Baga Chipz and Blu Hydrangea, and will represent Australia (which is rather ironic as de Campo’s husband is Australian).

At the end of last year RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Frock Destroyers had released ‘Break Up (Bye Bye)’ as a single, which created a buzz among Eurofans wanting them to represent the UK in Eurovision 2020.

Other performers include the ‘Bake Off’ host Mel Giedroyc, drag artist Glamrou, comedians Tim Vine, Nick Helm, Pippa Evas, Rob Deering ,Josie Long and Jonny Donahoe, comedic duo Flo and Joan, singers Joe Stilgoe and Neil Hannon and actors Kevin Eldon, Lucy Porter and Justin Edwards.

The Contest is the brain child of comedian and Eurofan Tom Taylor. He asked entertainers to volunteer their time to recreate the Eurovision Song Contest from their homes.

This special event is for a good cause and will raise money for three charities, they include The Trussell Trust (who run food banks to stop UK hunger), Crisis (UK charity for homeless people) and Refuge (provider of domestic and gender-based violence services).
