Lithuania: Aussievision's Eurovizija.LT rankings

Ten acts have been chosen from the five weeks of heats for Eurovizija.LT and this Saturday night (Sunday Australian time) we will find out who will represent Lithuania in Malmo!

Of the ten acts, three will be chosen for a superfinal - via a televote/jury 50/50 split. The three songs will then compete and the winner will be chosen by a 100% televote.

Ten Aussievision contributors have ranked the Lithuanian songs in the usual Eurovision points system, so read on below to see who was our pick!

10. Shower - 'Impossible' (30 points)

Highs: 8 points from Dale, 6 points from Craig Lows: 1 point from Sam, Mark, Emma and Josh, 2 points from Hayley and Laura

9. Aistè - 'We Will Rule the World' (33 points)

Highs: 7 points from Sam, 5 points from Laura Lows: 1 point from Fleur and Craig, 2 points from Kyriakos

8. Pluie de Comètes - 'Be Careful' (34 points)

Highs: 10 points from Laura, 6 points from Mark

Lows: 1 point from Kyriakos, 2 points from Sam, Fleur, Craig, Emma and Dale

"Every so often there’s a hidden gem in one of the national finals and this is it in Lithuania! I don’t expect it to make waves on a Eurovision scoreboard but it’s a beautiful piece of music with stunning staging and visuals to match, combining electronic, psychedelic rock and soul touches genre-wise - Tame Impala, eat your heart out! Be careful not to sleep on this one!" ~Laura

7. Il Senso - 'Time' (40 points)

Highs: 7 points from Josh, 6 points from Kyriakos

Lows: 1 point from Laura and Hayley, 3 points from Fleur and Dale

6. Žalvarinis - 'Gaudė Vėjai' (48 points)

Highs: 10 points from Emma, 8 points from Sam and Fleur

Lows: 1 point from Dale, 2 points from Josh and Mark

"I love the distinctly Lithuanian feel of this country/folk/rock fusion entry. It's probably a bit dated but the girls sing well and the costumes and staging only enhance this. A quality entry." ~Emma

5. The Roop - 'Simple Joy' (62 points)

Highs: 8 points from Josh, Kyriakos and Mark, 7 points from Fleur, Craig and Emma

Lows: 3 points from Sam and Laura

"The Roop - I don't necessarily want this to represent Lithuania at Eurovision this year, but this is actually a surprisingly gentle and moving song which appeals to my sentimental heart. The Roop's signature silly dance moves feel like they take on a bit more meaning in the live performance, and Vaidotas is as charismatic as ever while also feeling like he's relaxed a bit into his stage persona since 2021. Not my winner, but a really likeable performance nonetheless." ~Craig

"The Roop- Simple Joy is no Discoteque and it's certainly not On Fire. But it's a nice song and Vaidotas has stage presence. He even found a way to get a dance break in there. That deserves something, yeah? Just not a ticket to Malmö this time around." ~Fleur

4. Queens of Roses - 'Walk Through Fire' (70 points)

Highs: 12 points from Laura, 10 points Sam and Hayley

Lows: 3 points from Kyriakos and Craig

"This is a bit dated and generic, but I love how funky this is. The ladies radiate such positive energy and leave a smile on my face. I want to groove every time I hear this song. It reminds me a little of Sandhja’s ‘Sing It Away’ which represented Finland in 2016. Sandjha didn’t qualify for the Eurovision grand final, and these girls may suffer a similar fate if they get through the Lithuanian selection. But honestly who cares, this is still such a fun tune!" ~Sam

"Oh these girls can really sing! This is fun and their harmonies work so well together. This is a fun disco track - with female empowerment. I enjoyed this way more than I expected!" ~Hayley

"This song is simply wonderful! The chorus is catchy, the harmonies are excellent and the lyrics are iconic. If you’re like me and have been asking for the Young Divas to reunite for the past 15 years, give this track a go. I love it!" ~Laura

3. VB gang - 'Kaboom!!!' (74 points)

Highs: 12 points from Josh and Hayley, 10 points from Fleur

Lows: 4 points from Mark and Sam

"I can’t believe I’m giving my 12 points to the tacky stereotypical Eurovision party song but I honestly love this. This is a certain qualifier and maybe a top 10 finish at Eurovision although I cannot see it winning. The crazy tempo increasing as the song progresses really makes it a fun journey for the viewer. The last 30 seconds are a crazy party." ~Josh

"This has been my favourite from the second I heard it and it is one of my favourite songs so far in the entire Eurovision national final season. I really enjoy the lyrics - they are so fun and the staging of the pink and blues just pops. I also love the part of the song when the tempo kicks up a notch. Utter nonsense but I love it. This is slick and Eurovision ready!" ~Hayley

"It's an earworm, it's memorable and it's... look I don't know how to accurately describe it- but it's a tune. Does it deserve to win? Probably not, but we can enjoy it and wear cat helmets and two pairs of sunglasses if we want to- taip I admit that love that choreography too." ~Fleur

2. Monika Marija - 'Unlove you Starting Tomorrow' (79 points)

Highs: 10 points from Mark, Kyriakos and Craig, 8 points from Emma

Lows: 5 points from Fleur

"What a beautiful ballad and staging for this song! If Monica wins then the Monika run at Eurovision for Lithuania continues haha." ~Kyriakos

"This has one of my favourite stage performances I've seen all season - Monika gives us a whole narrative in three minutes, and there's a real attempt to create beautiful, lyrical camera shots which are impactful and full of meaning. The song perhaps isn't as strong as some of her previous attempts, but it's still really lovely and full of emotion. And regardless of anything else, it would be objectively funny for Lithuania to send a woman called "Monika" for the third year running." ~Craig

"This is a lovely country-inspired entry from the experienced Monica Marija. She probably has had stronger tracks in the past, but this stands out in its quality and simplicity." ~Dale

"Quality country sung superbly and staged atmospherically." ~Mark

1. Silvester Belt - 'Luktelk' (110 points)

Highs: 12 points Sam, Kyriakos, Craig, Mark, Dale, Emma and Fleur, 10 points from Josh

Lows: 8 points from Laura and Hayley

"This is an absolute Baltic bop! I can totally imagine bouncing up and down to this in a Vilnius nightclub. I like how it strikes a balance of being unique, artsy and striking, but also something you could imagine hearing on the radio or Spotify. This is miles ahead of the rest of the Lithuanian field. It is early days but I think this is Lithuania’s best bet for Eurovision, and has the potential to deliver them their highest result ever in the Europe-wide contest." ~Sam

"Compelling in its darkness and modernity. There’s a Tik Tok sensibility to this performance that won’t hurt its chances one little bit. Lithuanian has never sounded cooler, and Silvester’s strong vocals make this entry more than just a techno club track. A sure fire top-half finish in Malmö if the Lithuanians play their cards right." ~Mark

"As one of the few songs to sound like its from 2024, the vocals are strong and there's some tight choreography that works really well down the camera. There's a great staging concept here and that thumping bass line just draws you in to the song itself. This slick package is Lithuania's best chance to qualify for the Grand Final...send it Lithuania please!"~ Emma

"While I think the Lithuanian selection this year is a real step up from last year, Silvester is a strong standout for me who I'm expecting to see in Malmö. I admire his commitment to delivering sleek, contemporary music in the Lithuanian language, and he's proven already that there's no issues on the live performance front. Barring an upset, this should be the song representing Lithuania this year - top marks." ~Craig

"This is the song that honestly should win even though I gave my 12 points to Kaboom. Juries will eat this up. It’s a well constructed contemporary pop banger and could be a contender for the crown. The staging is already amazing and will likely be a surprise top 5 or 10 on the Eurovision 2024 stage." ~Josh

"I am obsessed with this song. I love it and will be very disappointed if it does not win. I have high hopes for this in Malmö.This is fantastic, head and shoulders above the rest. One of the best songs in the competition this year. I sincerely think it's that good." ~Fleur

"Hey Lithuania! It is time to send a male bop to Eurovision! Love the beat and catchy chorus to this song. Would love Lithuania to send something different and Silvester delivers on that. The song is also very palatable. This is one of the best Lithuanian national finals, the quality of all the songs are top notch!" ~Kyriakos

"This is a level above everything else in this competition. It's has a contemporary sound that we're hearing throughout Eastern Europe (this reminds me a lot of what we see in Serbia these days). His performance is spot on, sure it needs cleaning up but it is Eurovision ready and could take them to the grand final yet again." ~Dale
