‘Eurovision – Australia Decides 2020’ artist Jaguar Jonze releases her new EP ‘ANTIHERO’

Australia Decides artist Deena Lynch, under the moniker of Jaguar Jonze, has released her new EP, ‘ANTIHERO’, featuring five amazing tracks.

In March of last year, Jaguar Jonze contracted coronavirus, spending forty days in hospital care, having a fever for five weeks, and being bedridden for seven. Despite all of this, she continued recording vocals for her EP while in hospital care.

Prior to the release of her EP, Deena released music videos for four of the five songs featured. She described the music videos as:

“. . . a cyberpunk, anime, futuristic, graphic, almost sci-fi world”

The bold colour palettes of the music videos achieve this goal, transforming into an antihero character.

For the filming of the music video for ‘ASTRONAUT’, Deena had to undergo stunt training with professionals in order to learn how to move around in a wire harness in order to bring her vision to life.

“I’m proud of this one as it is three minutes of my rawest vulnerability, visually interpreted”

Eurovision fans may take interest in the fact that Deena Lynch worked on the EP alongside Dave Hammer, who also helped to write and produced Montaigne’s Eurovision entry for this year, ‘Technicolour’.

Today we don't just see the release of the new EP but also the release of a new single 'TESSELLATIONS'.

I binge-watched so much anime during my COVID-19 recovery time, escaping into the genius worlds of influential anime directors like Mamoru Oshii and Satoshi Kon. It only seemed natural that they fed into the visual narrative around the 'TESSELLATIONS' video and the EP as a whole. The song itself is about repetitive patterns, which some may technically consider order, but it's a pattern of chaos. It's a pattern of fighting, hurting each other, and wondering if we're fighting for what's right or the behavior is wrong - knowing that we can't erase the past but begging for the other to put defences down and play on one side.“

Jaguar Jonze has also been nominated for three awards at the Queensland Music Awards. She has received the following nominations:

  • Rock category for her 'Eurovision - Australia Decides 2020' song 'Rabbit Hole'

  • Folk / Singer Songwriter category for 'MURDER'

  • Music Video category for 'MURDER'

We wish her the best of luck!! The Queensland Music Awards will take place at The Fortitude Music Hall on May 5 2021.
