Blind Channel win UMK21 and will represent Finland in Rotterdam for Eurovision 2021

Finland have held their national final show Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2021 (UMK21) to select their representative for Eurovision 2021. In a single two hour show, seven artists will performed very diverse entries. Blind Channel were selected by a mixed vote from an international jury (25% of the vote) and the Finnish public (75% of the vote). The show had no live audience.

Blind Channel is rock band founded in Oulu in 2013. The band defines their music with the term “violent pop,” which the band has used since its inception.

They have worked hard in achieving an international career, with three studio albums so far, and in February 2018, the band was awarded the Rock of the Year nomination at the Finnish Emma Gala.

The band wrote ‘Dark Side’ channelling their frustration of cancelled gigs during 2020 due to Covid-19.

The international jury gave their 12 points to:

United Kingdom - Blind Channel

Switzerland - Aksel

USA - Blind Channel

Poland - Blind Channel

Iceland - Oskr

Spain - Blind Channel

Netherlands - Ilta

The final votes with combined jury and televoting points:

1. Blind Channel - 'Dark Side’ - 551 points

2. Teflon Brothers X Pandora - 'I Love You’ - 180 points

3. Ilta - 'Kelle mä soitan’ - 149 points

4. Oskr - ‘Lie' - 115 points

5. Aksel - ‘Hurt' - 108 points

6. Danny - 'Sinä päivänä kun kaikki rakastaa mua’ - 60 points

7. Laura - 'Play' - 13 points

Blind Channel won both the jury vote and televote by a huge landslide and will now get their ultimate chance to represent Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam.
