The wait is officially over!
Today supergroup KEiiNO and ‘Eurovision - Australia Decides 2019’ runner-ups Electric Fields have released their new highly anticipated single ‘Would I Lie’.
‘Would I Lie’ is written by both KEiiNO and Electric Fields along with Alexander Nyborg Olsson. Alexander has also co-written KEiiNO’s last few single releases ‘Black Leather’, ‘Colours’ and also collaborated with KEiiNO on their Eurovision 2019 entry ‘Spirit In The Sky’. The song itself has a strong environmental theme incorporating English lyrics with Australian Indigenous language and Sámi Joiking.
Back in October last year KEiiNO revealed their collaboration with Electric Fields where in an article with The Advertiser, Tom Hugo from KEiiNO said:
“We were starting to plan our album, which is about bringing to light Indigenous music and languages from around the world… and then the head of Australian delegation said we should work with Electric Fields.”
Earlier in the week in regards to the new single Electric Fields released a message on Facebook:
“Hi Everyone, We hope you're all staying home where possible and keeping safe. We were thrilled to collaborate with the brilliant KEIINO when they visited Australia a few months ago. KEiiNO infuses traditional Norwegian Sami Joik singing into their gorgeous scandi-pop songs and we loved working with them. The outcome is a track called 'WOULD I LIE' with a strong environmental theme. We hope it can bring some joy to your lounge room dance floors. Much love from all of us Xx”
For KEiiNO ‘Would I Lie’ is their 8th single release since their first single ‘Spirit In The Sky’ was the Eurovision 2019 Televoting winning entry, and a huge fan favourite. ‘Spirit In The Sky’ ended up in 6th position in the Eurovision Grand Final which saw Norway get their best result since 2013 and their fifth Top 10 result over the decade.
KEiiNO’s last single release ‘Black Leather’ saw them collaborate with Canadian indigenous singer Charlotte Qamaniq, and was released on February 28. The accompanying music video is very raunchy, featuring Berlin club scenes! It is definitely worth a look! You can find it here.
Electric Fields, who is made up of Adelaide duo Zaachariah Fielding and Michael Ross, gained a huge allegiance of fans after their ‘Eurovision - Australia Decides 2019’ song entry ‘2000 and Whatever’ came 2nd to Kate Miller-Heidke’s ‘Zero Gravity’.
‘Would I Lie’ is to feature on KEiiNO’s debut album <<OKTA>> which is expected to be released in May.
The album was scheduled for a release on March 27 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak which prevented them from giving their first album proper promotion. They even cancelled their album release concert they had planned in March.
‘Would I Lie’ is now available on iTunes and Google Play and streaming on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music.
