You can find details on the entry, the artist, and Azerbaijan's history at Junior Eurovision below.
About the artist: Yağmur
Azerbaijan’s Junior Eurovision 2025 representative is Yağmur Nasrullayeva. She is a 12-year-old singer from Baku. Yağmur began pursuing music around the age of eight and currently studies at Children’s Art School No. 5, where she trains across classical, pop and light contemporary genres. Yağmur also has a love for K-Pop!
Yağmur says Michael Jackson, Aygun Kazimova and Jennie from Blackpink are her favourite musicians. She was selected internally by İTV following an audition process of over 60 applicants. A six-member professional jury evaluated the finalists, and Yağmur placed first with half of the panel, securing her role as the 2025 Azerbaijani entrant.
About the song: 'Miau Miau'
Yep, if you haven't already guessed it, Miau Miau is about cats (Meow Meow in English). The song is a fun pop-funk track written by Diana Hajiyeva (aka Dihaj - Skeletons, Eurovision 2017), Hafiz Bakhish, Mila Miles and Rustam Rzayev.
Miau Miau is sung in both English and Azerbaijani and is light-hearted with the lyrics being about an imaginary black cat called Yağmur who "Moves like a whisper, magic in her paws, eyes of wonder". The fun music video has strong themes of feline imagery.
Azerbaijan in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Azerbaijan debuted at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2012 and has participated five times including its 2025 return. After competing in 2012 and 2013, the country withdrew for several years before returning in 2018, then withdrew again, later rejoining in 2021. Their strongest result to date came in 2021, when Sona Azizova finished fifth with One of Those Days.
Azerbaijan did not participate between 2022 and 2024, citing reasons such as cost and reduced interest, but confirmed its comeback for the 2025 contest in Tbilisi. Azerbaijan will perform second in the running order, with staging directed by Mads Enggaard and support from dancers of the Nero Dance Center in Baku.
