This year Spain is being represented at Junior Eurovision 2022 by Carlos Higes with the song, 'Señorita'.

Details on the entry and the artist, including comments from the team and history of Spain at Junior Eurovision can all be found below.

The artist: Carlos Higes

Carlos Higes will be representing Spain at only eleven-years-old. Carlos is a singer from the popular city of Valencia and was announced on the Spanish network RTVE. Carlos made his public debut as a singer when he captured the hearts of audiences tuning into Spain's version of The Voice Kids by singing his version of 'This Is Me' from The Greatest Showman.

When he's not singing for Junior Eurovision, he does modelling and plays piano, whilst also being an avid futsal fanatic and having a special talent at languages. Carlos says he has been a fan of Eurovision since 2016 and is excited to get this opportunity to perform.

The entry: 'Señorita'

The song is an upbeat anthem that is filled with youthful latin undertones that you can't help but dance along to. This year's entry brings a slight adjustment from Spanish entry tradition, as Carlos will be the first artist to sing in both Spanish and English. Carlos spoke with RTVE about how he wants his entry to make everyone smile and dance. With the combination of urban rhythm and simple lyrical structure, it's pretty hard to not be humming to it straight after listening to it.

Choreographer Vicky Gómez has spoken out about how to best create a dance that would show off the playful energy of both the amazing performers and the song itself. Gómez has talked about how he wanted the dance to help make the song more memorable with RTVE, highlighting how it should be "the most tiktokable" with this dance battle that is less of a battle than a small party between the four girls and boys.

Spain at Junior Eurovision

Spain has competed seven times at Junior Eurovision so far. They competed consistently from 2003 to 2006 and then proceeded to not return to the competition until 2019. Spain has had one victory back in 2004 with María Isabel's song 'Antes muerta que sencilla', along with two other second and third place songs. Spain has not had the chance to host Junior Eurovision yet.

Junior Eurovision 2022 will be held in Yerevan on December 11, 2022 (December 12, 2022 in Australia).
