Icelandic National Final ‘Söngvakeppnin 2020’ Semi Final 1 Results

Today in the Icelandic National Final ‘Söngvakeppnin 2020’ five acts competed for two spots in the Final/Super Final to be held on February 29.

A wildcard entry will be selected by the producers to make it five entries that will compete in the Final.

The top two entries were decided solely through televoting to proceed into the final.

All songs are performed in Icelandic for the Semi Finals. They are then to be performed in their intended language for Eurovision in the Final.

Here are the results for Semi Final 1:

DIMMA ‘Almyrkvi’ (Total eclipse)

Ísold & Helga ‘Klukkan tifar’ (Clock is ticking)

Brynja Mary ‘Augun þín’ (Your eyes)

Elísabet ‘Elta þig’ (Chase you)

Kid Isak ‘Ævintýri’ (Adventure)

The big rock / metal band, DIMMA, from Reykjavík, secured a spot in the Final with their entry ‘Almyrkvi’. They will enter the Final with their song in Icelandic as they didn’t enter an English version of their song. Their appearance in the Final is promising in hopefully seeing some rock music representation in Rotterdam Eurovision 2020.

The other act to secure their spot in the Final was Ísold & Helga with ‘Klukkan tifar’. In the final they are to perform the english version to their song ‘Meet Me Halfway’ . They were brought together solely for the Contest, and their chemistry paid off.

The second Semi Final of ‘Söngvakeppnin 2020’ will be on February 15 in Europe and February 16 in Australia.
