Bon Appétit! The grand final of Latvia’s Supernova took place this morning, and we have a winner!
Citi Zēni will represent Latvia at Eurovision 2022 with the song 'Eat Your Salad'. They were chosen from a field of 11 entries, consisting of the 10 acts that qualified last week and one wildcard.
With their band name translating as “Other Boys”, Citi Zēni love to push the boundaries of music and good *ahem* taste. Meeting as part of a songwriting camp in 2020, the six members bring diverse musical influences to their work including funk, hip-hop and soul, while simultaneously tackling topical issues with just a dash of humour and irony.
'Eat Your Salad' has generated much discussion on social media due to its deliberately shocking opening lyric – watch out to see how this one translates to the stage in Turin!
The final results were determined by a fifty-fifty combination of televote and jury voting. The final scoreboard is as follows:
Citi Zēni - 'Eat Your Salad'
Aminata - 'I'm Letting You Go'
Bujāns - 'He, She, You & Me'
Miks Galvanovskis - 'I'm Just A Sinner'
Elīna Gluzunova - 'Es pabiju tur'
Mēs Jūs Mīlam - 'Rich Itch'
Bermudu Divstūris - 'Bad'
Inspo - 'A Happy Place'
Raum - 'Plans'
Linda Rušeniece - 'Pay My Own Bills'
Miks Dukurs - 'First Love'
