Azerbaijan: FAHREE releases his Eurovision 2024 song 'Özünlə Apar'

The final song of the Eurovision 2024 season has been released, with Azerbaijani representative FAHREE set to perform 'Özünlə Apar' at the contest. The song also features İlkin Dövlətov.

FAHREE was born in Baku in 1995 and holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in law. During the COVID pandemic he decided to rekindle his passion for music. He grew up in a strict but artistic family: his father was a jazz drummer, whilst his grandfather was an actor. It has been a long-standing dream of his to compete at Eurovision.

İlkin Dövlətov features in the song. He finished runners-up on the first season of Səs Azərbaycan: Doğma Nəğmələr (The Voice of Azerbaijan: Native Songs). His portion of the song is performed in Mugham, which is a traditional Azerbaijani musical form. It has previously been heard in Azerbaijan's 2012 entry 'When the Music Dies'.

This year Azerbaijani Eurovision broadcaster İctimai Television held an internal selection to choose its representative for the contest. 214 artists submitted songs for consideration. Sixteen acts were initially shortlisted before they were judged by a panel that included Eurovision 2011 winners Ell and Nikki. From there six entrants were chosen for final consideration. They included Aisel who represented Azerbaijan in 2018 with 'X My Heart'.

FAHREE and İlkin Dövlətov will be hoping to turn Azerbaijan's Eurovision fortunes around after TuralTuranX's non-qualification last year. The Caucasian country made its Eurovision debut in 2008 with Elnur and Samir's 'Day After Day'. Azerbaijan's first six Eurovision entries all placed in the top ten. This included the country's only Eurovision win - Ell and Nikki's 'Running Scared'. Azerbaijan has only failed to reach the Eurovision final twice in its history.

With the release of FAHREE and İlkin Dövlətov's song the Eurovision 2024 line-up is now completed. The duo will perform their song in the second half of the first semi final on May 7.
